The weather at Bromo was unfortunately quite bad when I got there because the volcano was erupting an ash cloud :( I barely got to see anything, it was totally blanketed in volcanic ash!

January at Borobudur is quite wet and misty, so you won't really get to see the famous golden sunrise that Borobudur is known for but it is still quite spectacular :)

Hi Eddie! Thanks for your comment. It surprises me that such an authority on WorldVentures as yourself would have to resort to rude, ad hominem comment such as 'putting freedom in the hands of the uneducated' and being 'not from a country that really encourages that freedom' in order to criticise this article :) I would have expected better from someone of your educated calibre!

I am equally saddened to see that although you seem to be better informed than me about the use of words 'scam' and 'pyramid' you have not said how exactly I have erred in my ways. Surely someone as clever as you can shed light on your wisdom.

Do enlighten me - I'm quite confused as to what you mean with 'sell your own products' - last time I checked I wasn't selling any product and I don't recall having any links to any travel companies remotely similar to WorldVentures! I feel it unnecessary to put my credentials on display (although I can insist I have taken quite a bit more than 'a few courses' in political science).

Cheryl, like any of those that have replied to your blog post, I strongly disagree
with you primarily because your information is so very inaccurate.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's what makes freedom of speech so
cool! But put that freedom in the hands of the uneducated who spout off fiction as fact and you are only doing a disservice to society. Too bad you're not from a country that really encourages that freedom, is that why you are so bitter and want to deflate everyone's dream balloons?

Your article is well written and you have some writing skills. However, check your facts before you site them and comment on them as fact. You are only undermining your credibility as a writer if your "facts" are riddled with holes.

Areas for improvement:
• Your understanding of the definition of a "pyramid"
• Your understanding of the WV compensation program
• Your comparisons should be "apples to apples". Do better and more accurate research.

I'm saddened to see that people like yourself and others that had agreed with you on this blog use the popularity of WorldVentures to push your own agenda, sell your own products and push your own "scams". You use those shock words like "scam", "pyramid", etc. so inaccurately and loosely with no foundation of definition. I am surprised you present yourself as an authority on the subject. But you are still young, you have a few years to really learn a few things. I suggest you take a few courses in business and political science and then you might have more fact and knowledge to pull from and improve your credentials.

You put an obvious amount of energy into hyping what you feel are negatives of WorldVentures, one must wonder what YOUR agenda is. Hmmmm.

By the way, some of your photographs have "potential".

After read this, i belive more that most of the ppl dont know what is WV lol. First, u dont pay, u have membership that is converted in points to use! Representative is optional. To get money, u make With only 3 personals, and With 6 u make at least 450 profit.
The rest u say, i liked the "its too Good to be true" lol.
In 9 months, without comissions, i saved 1200$ in reservations
Come and taste it, and them u can talk.
Also, if its a scam, DSA, Ernst & young, world travel awards, and much more, they support.
Make a better research next time Buddy.

Sorry Kelly, but WV is legal in Norway. I dont know about Malaysia though. On the other hand to make money you need to work hard for a few years. It is obviously not for everyone, like not everyone become a CEO of the big company. To be a qualified rep you need to get people in. Nothing wrong with it. Dont expect get money for nothing. MLM is about that. The effort and work you put in that what you get back. When you join any MLM companies you should know that.

Hello Cheryl! DiligentMum explained quite well. You were comparing different airlines. Yourbook g engine gave a $910 price with 2!! Stops. Rovia is with 1!! stop. Even on your favorite website van be seen that the flight with 1 stop goes from $1077. So looking this way the difference is about $60. But when you book it, the price goes a bit up. I have been on 27 dreamtrips already, and never found a cheaper one, and I was looking for it really hard. Why? You migh get lucky to find a cheaper one, as a resort or hotel, BUT not with the few extras included, like in Mexico. 1. You are using your dreamtrips points which saves you already around 50% youwould pay. 2. On that trip I saved $600 on the lowest price I found checking 9 booking sites. Plus I got 1500$ credit to spend in the resort. Basically that trip cost me $2200 including airfare from Europe for two people for 5 days. So if you want to tell me this was not cheap being there and treated like a Royalty than I dont know what kind of vacations you prefer. How we earn money. Do the math. Thousandsof people joining as a club member, they dont do busines. 20-30% do as business and their fees are waived. 3-4 % makes it well. I need to ask 500 people, probably 30 will sign up and 3-4 will make a 6 figure income. You might need to get deeper in MLM to understand more. Many regular companies paying millions for ads. MLM companies does not, instead they paytheir reps. Only those can make money who takes it seriously. Very small number. And you never get rich here without puting the right amount of work.

Yeah $8,500 if you recruit that many within a month may be? How many ppl can recruit 60 in a month?

My brother is in W.V. and he has been slogging past 3 years and earning free trips. I just realized the free trips are from points he exchanged for, and points he earned whenever he booked for an airfare ticket. No travel = no point earned. He is the only person using his own website to book any thing at all...since paid members have their own website, they have no need to book through my brother's WV site,

I feel he's been scammed but like lots of sheeple with herd mentality, he does not feel so.

So again it is something like mlm scheme. I had a friend who joined the full time vacationer and keep posting on Facebook how rich they are now happy they are. I don't really know how the platform work but I do know one thing. Nobody will share with you how they get rich honestly, no businessman will come to you and tell you his company secrets and said he will teach you how to become rich. This is just to attract people who are seeking short cuts to get rich.

My son joined world ventures and so I thoroughly checked them out on his behalf therefore, I have an extensive knowledge of how they operate and the compensation plan. There are a number of false and I am sure unintentional errors in this blog. The most important one is the income. NO you do not have to sign up 30 or 60 members to earn a residual income or start earning money. My son signed up 6 members who also signed up some members and he earned $700 in his first two weeks. The person who signed him up signed up 11 people and made $3400 in the first week because most of those 11 also signed people etc etc. It will take far too long here to explain how World Ventures makes their money, and how they can afford to pay people. Just start with buying power, however it's far more detailed than that.

As previously commented, the price comparison was with a different airline with different layovers and flights, that's not a comparison. Also when doing my research I noted that so many online booking engines show a great fare however by the time you checkout, the ad ons are ridiculous. Rovia sticks with the quoted fare, no ad on fees or charges. Then there's the price pledge, find it cheaper and they will give you travel dollars to the value of 150% of the difference to use on hotels or flights. The best thing is their rate Shrinker, if your purchased ticket goes down between booking and flying or staying at a hotel, they CASH you back the difference, because they re ticket you.

With members living in every corner of the world, how can they included airfares in the holiday packages? So a trip is in London and one person lives in Paris and another in Alaska!

Anyway there are dozens more pieces of incorrect info in this blog, just so you know.

Well, i think you need to clarify again the airfare. I am neutral. The airfare screenshot you post, first thing that i see is, the time. Lots of people know, the airfare ticket price each schedule is not same at all. In the pic you gave between rovia and skycanner, all of you that read this must see, the flight time and the transit time are different. Well, if you want to make a comparison, you need to give the same exact one.
Oh, and 1 more. Of course, airfare ticket no need to be put it. I hope you get this point.*my opinion only*
Let's say i am flying to paris from london(lets say the package with airfare is written $500). So if i am flying from thailand, and i only need to pay $500 also, what will london people say? I hope you get the point what i think.
I am not a member and i don't know about wv at all too.

nicely written cheryl! haha I didn't expect your blog to be sharing on this but yeah I can totally relate to this.

unfortunately my friend and I fell for this and was recruited into worldventures during our NS period. they also tried advocating to us the importance of building a network and using it as a form of Passive Income. all those gibberish about you falling ill and being unable to work, loss of income blah blah. it was indeed appealing when you simply listen to their sales pitch without doing the math.

however, it was horrible for someone like myself whose has never much of a salesperson. not only did i found it difficult to sell something to my friends who had no need for a product like this, i found my friends avoiding to talk to me since i pretty much pounced on every opportunity i got to meet my quota of 4 people. (otherwise, I would have to continue to pay $50 a month. i only managed to sell to 2.) furthermore when I finally did my own math about the travel packages, those prices that they advertise was indeed rubbish.

it was pressurizing as all i could think of every night was about meeting the quota. we could give up the membership by refusing to pay the monthly $50, but that would also mean giving up the $300 that we had paid upfront initially (the membership fee has been varying over time).

luckily my friend, who did more research than me, told me that under the terms and conditions we could refund our money and membership. thankfully Singapore laws require worldventures (or similar pyramid-like scheme companies) to have a mandatory 'cooldown' period in order to protect consumers. As we were only into worldventures for slightly less than 2 weeks, we immediately called up their headquarters and demanded a refund.

apart from an administration fee of approximately $20, we managed to recover our money. it was very relieving to have finally gotten rid of this burden. i would say this experience was indeed an eye-opening one for me regarding MLM or anything close to that.

I was told, it's 30 on right and 30 on left. 60 people before you even start earning like a miserable $500 a month (passive income). So you are also paying WV memberships to slog like hell. Only about 2% in W.V. ever make it big.

Also, if your 60 people is placed to you from other reps (those above you), you still need to place 4 reps under you by yourself before you make any money. Meantime, hope you are happy with booking with your own travel website and earning points to exchange for free travel.

W.V. promotion is actually illegal in Norway and Malaysia. Bet most W.V. reps are unaware!

If you would like to help me clarify how these 'facts' aren't true at all - especially the one final point I raised about the sustainability of the scheme - I would be more than happy to hear your opinion. So far, you haven't told me why the things I've said are incorrect, only saying that they are. (Please see #4 above.)
